Smartphone Apps for Better Sleep
Hi everyone! It’s your best buddy Cheap Sheep here reporting from dreamland. As you know, I am one little lamb who values the benefits of a good night’s sleep! I’ve been talking to my scientist pals in the sleep lab, and they say that people just aren’t getting enough sleep. In fact, almost 40 percent of you get less than 7 hours of sleep a night (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). The horror…the horror! Friends, that’s just not right.
Luckily there are some cool smartphone apps that can help us all get better sleep and sweeter dreams!
Sleepbot app
This free dreamtime app features a motion tracker, sound recorder, and smart alarm. Sleepbot tracks our motion at night, and records any snoring or sleep talking. This gives sleepers the opportunity to detect any disturbances, so we can make adjustments for better sleep. It even makes fancy graphs that show when we were awake at night, and when we were in a light or deep sleep.
MotionX 24/7 app
The MotionX 24/7 not only tracks sleep, but also has a pedometer and heart-rate monitor. It lets you set goals for hours of sleep per night, while monitoring movement and recording sleep disturbances. This nifty little app also integrates with Apple’s Health app for even more benefits. The smart alarm can be programmed to wake you up during a light sleep, so you feel more well-rested! This is also perfect for powernaps!
The Sleep Cycle app
This app features a smart alarm and a custom music library where you can choose your own wake-up song! The Sleep Cycle allows you to program your nightly sleep intervals and will even turn off on the weekends. Although it doesn’t record night sounds, it is designed to detect motion through the phone’s accelerometer.
